Biography

James was born in White Bear Lake, Minnesota in 1890.^[1] He grew up there with his parents Socrates and Annie and three siblings.^[2][3][4]

In 1911, he married Ida Nelson in Saint Paul.^[5] They had two children together:

• Stanley Alfred (b. 1911)^[6]
• James Lester (b. 1914).

In 1917 and 1920, the Thompsons lived in Saint Paul, where James was a shipping clerk.^[1][7] In 1930, the family lived in Fargo, North Dakota.^[8]

Research Notes

It is unknown when James passed away. In the 1940 US Census, his wife Ida was listed as "widowed." A FIndaGrave entry for James lists his death year as 1914, which is incorrect.^[9] He may have passed away in 1934, his death year misinterpreted incorrectly, but this is merely speculation.
