Dorothy Mary Thompson (married name Grier) was born on 7 July 1909 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, the daughter of Emily Maud (Fisher) Thompson and James William Thompson.[1][2][3]
She became the first female swimmer from Queensland to compete at the Olympic Games when she contested the heats and semi-finals of the women's 200 metres breastroke in Amsterdam in 1928.[4]
She married Reginald James Grier on 24 August 1929 at St. Alban's Church of England, Wilston, Queensland.[3] Their daughter was:[4]
