Biography

Birth

Nancy Lou Thibodeau was born in Beyer Memorial Hospital, Ypsilanti, Michigan on July 23, 1958, to Allen Thibodeau and Irma Varner.[1][2]

She was baptized on August 17, 1958 at Saint John The Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Her God Parents were Donald Thibodeau Sr and Florence Tanner.[2]

Early Years

Nancy lived at 1430 Gattegano Street in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and attended Charles F. Kettering Elementary School until the winter of 1966.

Her family moved to 7835 Munger Road in Ypsilanti Township, where she attended Lincoln Consolidated Schools until 1976.

In February of 1974, Nancys father, Allen Thibodeau, and grandfather, Albert Joseph Thibodeau, passed away. In December of 1975, her grandfather, John Lewis Varner, passed away.

Marriage

Nancy Lou Thibodeau married Douglas Allan Landers May 12, 2007, in Romulus, Wayne County, Michigan.

Family

Nancy has two children, Sara, and Nick, and a stepson Dennis.

house at 1562 Mollie Street Ypsilanti, to my current home in Westland.

They always had time to play cards, board games and take me with them to visit family and friends. She was an awesome cook and I still make green beans, and corn bread like she did.

My Family 1967

I loved the small 10 acre farm on Munger Road, next door to my grandparents Albert Thibodeau and Lea (Cormier) Thibodeau. We had horses, chickens, geese, rabbits, dogs, and cats.

Grandpa Thibodeaus orchard provided fruit, and solitude. An in depth education in pruning, pollination, species of trees, and taste, was provided by Grandpa! I remember being fascinated with his knowledge of fruit and the trees that produced it.

But nothing beat him putting a veil on me then handing me a smoker pot to "smoke the bees" while he checked the hives!

Grandma always had homemade baked goods on hand, her date nut bars were the best! I learned how to make applesauce from her. She also had a green thumb and I still have a Christmas cactus that was started from hers.

In February of 1974, my Father died on the 12th, and nine days later Grandpa Thibodeau passed on the the 21st. During this time I took on more responsibility for the farm animals, and farm in general.

The following year in December my Grandpa Varner died. Life for me had changed drastically.

Work History

My first job was at Wiards Apple Orchard, down the road from our house.

I moved on to work in a service station, pumping gas, doing minor repairs, and driving a tow truck on occasion.

Then, I worked for a couple of veterinarians, and was exposed to "Exotic" animals including tigers, monkeys, and other exotic cats.

I have also worked as "Grounds Maintenance" caring for 36 acres, and later in the maintenance department.

Today I am grateful for the experience and knowledge gained from my grandparents and parents. Tinkering with farm equipment, learning about animals, trees, flowers, baking, and canning.

The biggest lesson was learning life has no guarantees, and you must always take responsibility for your choices, which lead to your destination.

Currently, my yard, is a certified "Wildlife Habitat", and I plan to open a wildlife rehabilitation center.

Current interests and Hobbies

I spend lots of time with my grandson, Kien, building Lego sets, and letting him help me build garden arches and other miscellaneous items.

Wildlife Habitat
Baking is another one of my favorite things to do. I make organic dog biscuits for my two dogs and suet for the birds. I am a certified wildlife habitat through the National Wildlife Federation and plan to become a wildlife rescue source, and open a wildlife rehabilitation center.

Organic gardening of herbs, vegetables, and fruit, is a year round job that provides nutritional food for my family.

Growing native plants that feed and shelter wildlife has brought many different types of wildlife to my suburban yard. So far I have had jack rabbits, baby raccoons, a bat, and a red shinned hawk, along with many other species of avian pay a visit or two.

My 1977 Harley Davidson Super Glide provides me with fun and freedom. My husband and I love to ride when we can.

Now the genealogy bug has bitten, and I am discovering my family history and heritage. The research and fascinating history I'm learning has led me to document it all on Wiki Tree. By discovering my roots, my life and the current path I'm on, makes more sense to me now. I hope future generations of my family enjoy the results. Perhaps a future generation will pick up, and carry the genealogy torch.

My experience on Wiki Tree has been so awesome. So many good people have helped me to correctly document my family's genealogy. I have learned so much with their generous help, offering leads, links to sources, and practical suggestions that will stand the test of time. A big thank you to all Wiki Tree Genealogists!

I hope to make a small difference in the world by leaving it a bit better than I found it.

Hi Nancy

It has been a couple of weeks since we contacted you about your participation in the Acadia Project and as we haven't heard from you, we are following up to make sure you wish to remain a member.

We understand that interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to the branches they are currently building. If this is the case for you, please let us know.

If we do not hear back from you within the week, we will assume you have moved on to other things for the moment and remove you from the project. Please know that you will always be welcome to rejoin should your interests shift back in this direction.

Thank you so much for your participation; we genuinely appreciate it.

Karen ~ Volunteer Coordinator

Hi Nancy,

We’ve made some exciting changes to the Global Cemeteries Project. The sub-projects have been merged into the Global Project to help with Leadership and to facilitate collaboration.

Some roles within the project have changed. From now on, there are Project Coordinators for each continent, and one for Welcome and Integration, plus Team Leaders for each individual Country etc.

Please let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project, if you’d like to continue in an existing role, and which team(s) you’d like to be on. Please also give me your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group.

Many thanks,

Susie
