Annie Taylor Forrester was born into a life of privilege, one of two daughters born to Tom & Belle Taylor. She was delivered at home by a mid-wife in an impressive, large two story log home. Her Father was an entrepreneur before his time and the son of one of the founding fathers of a rural community known as "Taylor Town" located in Hurricane Mills, TN. Although she was in an "arranged" marriage to a senator's son, she saw my grandfather, a "laborer" on the family estate and was smitten by his looks & charm. She eloped with him on the back of a "mule" even though she told that her fiancé who she chose not to marry "Had the finest horse & carriage in the state". She delivered 9 children of which "3" did not survive infancy/childhood. Secondary to medical limitations the cause of deaths were unknown. Yet, decades later "3" of the surviving children (including my Dad) participated in studies in coordination with Vanderbilt University Hospital, with each having rare & differing congenital heart conditions. My grandmother was the epitome of a "genteel southern lady" and lived to be 93 years old & passed a few weeks prior to her 94th birthday. My grandfather maintained till his death that she was really "two years older than what she told" in order to not be older than he was. If so, she took that secret to her grave...
