James was christened on 24 September 1854, at Chiselborough, Somerset, England. He was the son of Thomas Taylor (1810-1883) and Elizabeth Gard (1826- ).
James married Loisa Hockey (1858-1923) in 1881, at Yeovil, Somerset, England.[1]
