  • John Merrill married "Mary (Emerson) Stevens".
  • Mary’s birth is given as August 1736
• Mary Emerson married David Stevens on 30 September 1756 in Hampstead, Rockingham, New Hampshire.^[1]
• Mary Stevens married John Merrell on 17 September 1761 in Hampstead, New Hampshire.^[2]
• The birth of their first son in 1763 has her name as Mary Emerson.
  • Abel Merrill, born on 19 November 1763 in Atkinson, Rockingham, New Hampshire, United States.
    • Son of: John Merrill and Mary Emerson^[3]
• The conclusion is that this profile should be disconnected from the parents Isaac Stevens (1719-) and Mary Barker (1725-). This profile's LNAB should be changed to Emerson. And merged with Mary Emerson.

• The whole situation needs further investigation. This may be a case in which the Merrill memorial is in error. It seems to be the John Merrill born 1743 (died 1828) son of Benjamin Merrill that married a Mary Stevens in 1770. A better solution may be to leave Mary as Mary Stevens but with undetermined parents. - Except that doesn’t explain her name at the birth of her son as Mary Emerson.
