I see that you are using some of the tools. That's great. It's always good to understand what you want as the end result from the tools. For that, I would suggest that you review the Biography Help, especially the Additional subsections and Proper Order. You might also want to take a look at Editing Tips which explains the difference between * and **. Look at the Sources Help to see that a source can be listed either under the == Sources == heading or included inline using the ref tag.
I was particularly confused by the change that you made to Hannah Adeline Wilson (1848-1916) to take a perfectly formatted inline census citation and add it under the Sources heading without removing the ref tags and then adding a Maintenance Section. So you added a duplicate source, introduced a formatting error (and a suggestion), and added a non-supported section. Perhaps you were working from the Unsourced list and came across a profile that had already been sourced. The Unsourced list is only updated weekly, so you can come across profiles that have already been improved.
You may already be aware of the WikiTree Browser Extension. If not, it can help you. If you enable the Bio Check feature then when you are editing a profile when you move your mouse over the Save Draft button it will check the profile. This would have found the issues on Hannah.

Also different is that most of the prizes given out at the hang outs are donated by members so there are a wide variety. If you would like to look at what has been donated so far or to donate a prize yourself:
Thanks so much for being a part of the Mid-Atlantic Team for the July Connect-a-thon. As a group we added 3.824 profiles to Wikitree. Hope to see you in October for the Source-a-thon.
I am an avid genealogy researcher since 1972, mostly for my family. I am happy to assist and share information to those who are part of our "cousin" lines.
2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.
If you would like to contribute, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.
Thanks for all the work that you do on WikiTree!
