1860 Cesus: Thomas D. Smith , age 3, is living with his parents, W. W. (49) and Lucinda (43) Smith, in Milton, Georgia. The record indicates that Thomas was born in Georgia. Aslo in the home are Thomas' siblings Mary A. (18), A. J. (16), C. M. (14), R. D. (11), M. C. (6), and Savannah (1) ^[3]

1870 Census: Thomas P. Smith (12) is in the Milton, Georgia household of his mother, Lucinda Smith (51). His siblings Robert W. (17), Martha C. (15), and Alice S. (10) also reside in the home.^[4]
