Hi Bruce,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

Over the past year, Australia Project members have been more active on Discord. We're finding it a fun way to communicate as a project. As you are already a member of the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our chat channels are located, we hope you'll join the chat! It's a great way to communicate with other members on your project team/s, or for any general questions.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Thanks for the Owl Sticker Staci. Is there any way I can move it out of comments and onto my profile?

Hi Bruce

Can I just remind you that no amendments should be made to profiles with Hold Requests even by Data Doctors! These profiles are allocated to Hikers who are using these profiles to learn. People going in and making corrections on their behalf does not assist that process.

When working on the Data Doctors Suggestions can you make sure that the profile you are about to correct is not Held by a Project.

Thanks Suzy Cairns Scotland Project - Tartan Trail Project Co-ordinator

Sorry Suzy,

I did not notice the Hold Request. My mistake and I will be more vigilant in future. My apologies.

Hi, Bruce

At WikiTree, we aim to protect the privacy of all living individuals for their protection and in line with data protection legislation.

WikiTree has excellent privacy controls, but that won’t protect you and your family if you publish your personal information or the information of your living family members in your biography, Communications section, or on the profiles of others.

Since WikiTree is a public website, I suggest you remove references to dates, locations, or living individuals from your biography, or communication section, or comments.

For further information, see Privacy and Data Protection. For WikiTree’s Privacy Policy, see Privacy Policy.

Many thanks

Dear Bruce,

Thank you for joining our project. We are pleased that you decided to join us and hope that you find the Orphan Trail rewarding.

The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members periodically to make sure everything is going well. This is our formal annual check-in and we are interested in your perspective as a Trailer, whether you are still waiting to be buddied up with a Trailblazer, on the road to completing the Orphan Trail, or taking a short break.

We would be interested to hear whether you're finding the explanations and guidance in the Orphan Trail pages useful. No more than a couple of sentences would be enough. We are always looking to improve and feedback plays an important part.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.

On behalf of all the Leaders, thank you again. We look forward to your completion of the Orphan Trail and your continued involvement in our collaborative and fun Project!

Kind regards,

Elizabeth, England Project Leader

Hi Elizabeth,

I have just graduated from OT1and sent the following to Rosalie, my Trailblazer: Thanks for your support during my Orphan Trail training. I found the Orphan Trail extremely helpful, and it gave me the knowledge and confidence to participate more fully in the England Project and other aspects of WikiTree. The various resource pages that the England Project has created are exceptional. Maintaining static web pages that are helpful, accurate and current is a challenging undertaking, and their various authors are to be highly commended. I look forward to attempting OT2 when a place becomes available. In the meantime I am unsure which annoys me more: poor biographies or missing sources, so I clearly belong on the Profile Improvements Team. In order to improve my own biography writing skills I think I’d like to initially join the BioBuilders Team.

I am happy for you to announce my graduation, and post my comments where you see fit.

Cheers Bruce

Hello Bruce,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Hilary,

I do have the marriage transcript for the pre-1700 Profile I created (James Rawe (bef.1684-aft.1710)). I was unable to find any Profiles or Projects that looked like they were associated. I tried to follow the information on the Pre-1700 Profiles page as best I could. A link to an exemplar Profile would help. I would of course merge this Profile if I was mistaken and there is one already. If there is nothing to merge with, any suggestions on how to improve the Profile would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bruce

Hi Bruce,

If you are working on profiles with events in England you should follow the England Project Profile Standards. The United Kingdom did not exist at this time so should be removed from the marriage. I would suggest joining the project if you have more profiles to add for this time period.

Hi and welcome Bruce,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
