Walter was the son of Edward and Alma born in 1893 New Zealand [1]
Walter worked as a Farm Hand.
Walter Served in World War 1 Walter was 5’ 10” and deemed to be physically fit for training. He did his Training at Trentham NZ 9-2-16 – 26-5-16 Next of kin on embarkation was Mrs Alma Campbell Shea (mother), Te Mata, Raglan, Waikato, New Zealand Walter served with the 7th Reinforcements 1st Battalion, E Company New Zealand Rifle Brigade He fought in France – the Somme where he was injured- Walter was shot in both his right and left thighs He was transferred to a London Hospital for treatment. He was discharged 13 April 1918 No longer fit for War due to injuries received in action. Walter was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal [2]
In 1921 Walter married Marjorie Rattray Macfarlane *[3]
Walter and Marjorie had several children - Gordon Walter Shea, Elsie [Shea] Fraser, Marjorie [Shea] Price, Billy Shea and David Shea.
Walter died in 1985 [4]
