By 1910, Ziba had relocated to Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, where he found employment as a press operator at a steel plant. His career path evolved, as evidenced by records from 1918, which indicate that he had transitioned to working as a salesman for a furniture company while still residing in Berwick.
In 1920, Ziba was living in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, further establishing himself in the state.
His journey led him to Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, by 1930, where he pursued a new career as a chef on a college campus, showcasing his culinary talents and adaptability.
By 1940, Ziba had settled in Niantic, Douglass Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where he continued his culinary career, this time as a chef at a local restaurant.
Tragically, Ziba Rice Shaver passed away on June 10, 1943, in Douglass, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, succumbing to pulmonary edema. He was laid to rest at Fairmount Springs Cemetery in Fairmount Springs, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication to his craft.
