Enlisted into Company C of the 105th OHio Volunteer Infantry at age 19 as private on August 8, 1862. He was promoted to corporal of Company C. He was mustered out at the close of the war.
Samuel Rupert, 89, died at 11 a. m. Monday at the home of his son!Irvin Rupert, in the southeast section of Canfield township. Complications were given as the cause of death.
Mr. Rupert was bom November 10, 1842, in Beaver township near Lewistown. He had lived in that district all his life.
His wife died six years ago. A son, Claude, died last July.
Surviving are his son, Irvin, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Rupert served in the Civil war as a member of the 105th artillery O. V. I. He was a member of the Paradise Reformed church.
Funeral service will bo held at the Paradise Reformed church a. 2:30 p. m. Wednesday. Rev. R. L. Roherbaugh will be m charge.
