Charles Seville Rowe was born in 1842, the son of George Rowe and Philippa Curtis, and was baptised at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire on the 13th of May that year. [1][2]
Charles explored Cleveland Bay where Townsville was later surveyed.
Charles later ran the Alexandra Hotel in Townsville, built in 1886 by his father-in-law, Charles Grimmann.
Charles Rowe passed away at Townsville, in the Colony of Queensland, on the 12th of June 1900, and was buried in the West End Cemetery.[19][20]
