Bert L. Roberts is part of a Bahamian family.

Bert L. Roberts was born 26th August 1918 in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas to Benjamin E. Roberts[1][2]and Sarah Bethel.[3] His parents were not [closely] related to each other based an autosomal DNA analysis of his sister using “GEDmatch Genesis - Are your parents related?“

He was a graduate of Government High School, Nassau, Bahamas. He planned to be an accountant and worked in the real estate office of John Francis McCarthy who was also the director of the American Insurance United of Nassau. Bert's primary business became his real estate company, Bert L. Roberts, Ltd. However he also started, either himself or in partnership: the BVB (a bowling alley and nightclub with Vernon “Skip” Roberts), Nassau Bottling Company, BESCO (Bahamas Electric and Supply Company), Pearl Insurance, Fisherman's Wharf restaurant (with Charles Ageeb), Island Tackle (with Juan Fernandez), and the Sandy Point Fishing Club (Abaco). He started either himself or with others several real estate developments: Fort View Apartments on Chipingham Road, The Roberts Building on East Street, Out Island Traders Building, Seahorse Shores (Landrail Point, Crooked Island), and Pelican Shores (Marsh Harbour, Abaco).

Some of his close friends included Roscoe Thompson, Sidney Neil, Cam Taylor, Otto Badenhausen, Steve Briggs, Pieter Van Vlaanderen, Fred Edwards, and Stephen Etnier.

He died in Nassau in 1966 and is buried on Channel Cay, Abaco, Bahamas.[4]
