Mildred was born about 1905. She is the daughter of Austin Prouty and Nina Stute.

When Robert Austin Prouty died in 1979 his obituary named among his survivors, his sister, Mrs. Mildred Hanzinger of Peru, Clinton N.Y. Mildred's husband C. Karl Downs, died in 1959 and when Mildred applied for Social security in 1969 her name was Honsinger. Social Security death record has her name as Honsinger when she died. Find a Grave has her buried with first husband Karl under the name Downs. I have been unable to locate a marriage record for Mildred Downs/Prouty to anyone named Honsinger/Hanzinger or an obituary for either Karl or Mildred.

The home of Mrs. William Firmey in Peru, N.Y. was the scene of a quiet wedding Friday, August 30, 1968, when her close friend, Mrs. Mildred Downs of Peru, was married to Gerald E Honsinger of Detroit, Mich. Rev. Buddle, Pastor of Community Church, officiated at the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Firmey and Clarence Hobbs were their attendants. A Buffet luncheon was served the 45 guests at the Royal Savage Inn, Plattsburgh. Among the guests were Mrs. Mary Jane King of Long Beach, Calif., daughter of Mrs. Honsinger, Mrs. Honsinger's two sons, Reginald of Salmon River and William of Peru and their wives, Mrs. BarHarnert with her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Ostrander, their daughter and son, daughters of Mr. Honsinger, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hobbs and grandson Tracey all of Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Honsinger left Monday for Detroit, where they will reside. He spent his early life in Ellensburg where he has many friends who extend Best Wishes.
