Templates

  • Only add the project box if the profile is managed by the Kentucky Project profile account. Otherwise add the sticker.
  • The Project Box goes above the == Biography == heading, ALL OTHER STICKERS GO UNDER == Biography == HEADING!

The template is {{United States|sub-project=Kentucky}} which will give you:

flag
... ... ... is a part of Kentucky history.
Join: Kentucky Project
Discuss: Kentucky

The above template is for use only on profiles that are of importance to the project or need to be PPP'd and managed by the project.

It is not for every single person from Kentucky. The following sticker might be used in that circumstance, placing it below the Biography Header:

Kentucky Sticker Directions
Deceased persons {{Kentucky Sticker}}
... ... ... was a Kentuckian.
Living Persons {{Kentucky Sticker|living=y}}
... ... ... is a Kentuckian.

Misson & Goals

  • The purpose of this project is to consolidate all Kentucky-related sub-projects, free space pages, and resources, both internal and external, in one place.
  • The overall goals of the United States Project are to create and develop profiles on WikiTree for those who lived in the state of Kentucky. To meet these goals:

Task List

  1. Add Kentucky-related profiles, checking for existing profiles to avoid duplication. If any duplicate profiles exist, request merges, starting with the oldest generation.
    1. Search out original rather than derivative documentation and add sources.
    2. Write comprehensive, well-sourced biographies.
    3. Make sure profiles of all family members are correct and documented.
    4. Profiles need to be linked to the greater WikiTree. Try to find the connection.
  2. See the Kentucky State Maintenance Category "Needs" categories
    1. Needs GEDCOM Cleanup If profiles were loaded by GEDCOM, use WikiTree Styles and Standards to clean up residue and broken links.
    2. Needs Biography: Write comprehensive, well-sourced biographies.
    3. Needs Profiles Created: Profiles need to be linked to the greater WikiTree. Try to find the connection. Make sure profiles of all family members are correct and documented.
    4. Needs More Records: Search out original rather than derivative documentation and add sources.
      1. Unsourced Profiles
      2. Needs Birth Record
      3. Needs Marriage Record
      4. Needs Death Record

  1. Need space pages created and developed for Kentucky counties and linked to this page. Would you like to lead a county project?
  2. If you have any Kentucky state resources that you are willing to do lookups, please add them to the Kentucky Resources Page.
  3. If you live in Kentucky, please consider adding Kentucky Research Assistance to your Wikitree profile page.
  4. County pages need created or updated.
