Hi Debbie,

On pre-1700 profiles, please do a thorough search for an existing profile before creating a new one. I've sent you two merge proposals on duplicates:

  • Metcalf-5100
  • Colburn-2260

I'm not sure why these wouldn't have come up when creating the duplicates. But it's best to *assume* a profile exists, especially in early New England.

Hello Debbie,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

As regards your grandfather's profile, I see that the profile currently has no Profile Manager. As you have signed our Honor Code, you can adopt the profile and then draw up a narrative biography for him and add relevant sources. I would recommend that you work through the How to Use WikiTree pages from the link I've given so that you get a feel for the WikiTree community standards and collaboration on profiles, before doing a lot of work on his profile.
