Biography

William Bradley Pitt was born 18 December 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to William Alvin Pitt and Jane Etta Hillhouse. William ran a trucking business at the time and the family soon moved to Springfield, Missouri, a place Brad has described as "Mark Twain country" and "Jesse Jame country". In high school, Brad was active in various groups and clubs including Keys and Forensics, the school debate team and the golf, swimming and tennis teams. He also performed in musicals. In 1982 he enrolled in the University of Missouri to study journalism and advertising. As graduation loomed, Brad decided he wasn't ready to settle down. He loved films and since films were not made in Missouri he decided to go where they were made and two weeks before earning his degree, Brad packed it up and headed off to Los Angeles where he worked odd jobs and took acting classes.

Brad landed many roles and had some good success but a major turning point for him came in 1994 when he starred as Louis de Pointe du Lac in Interview with a Vampire. His performance in this role was not well received by critics. Later that year he also starred in Legends of the Fall and received mixed reviews. In 1995, Pitt starred in Seven where his performance was finally well received, even called screen acting at its best.

Brad has gone on to receive a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, five Academy Award nominations and one Academy Award win for a production by his film company Plan B Entertainment.

Brad has had a few high profile relationships including Gwyneth Paltrow and a five year marriage to Jennifer Aniston. He has been in a relationship now, with Angeline Jolie, for several years and the couple have six children, some naturally and some through adoption Brad and Angelina are both very involved in social issues in the United States as well as internationally.

Brad Pitt's father was William Alvin Pitt b. 1941, d. 2008 - see FS profile https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G8BC-N3Q. I think he is a private profile "[private father] 1940s - unknown", but I don't know who the profile manager is. William Alvin Pitt's father, and Alvin Monroe Pitt's wife was Betty Jeanne Brown b. 1922, d. 2017. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/L25Z-NRZ I think she is a private profile "(1920s - unknown)]". Again the profile manager is unknown. It's possible that the profile manager for both is William Alvin Pitt's sister. As these were her family members, she may not want to open the profiles. But, if Betty Jeanne Brown can be connected to her parents, we could see Brad Pitt's full family tree. They are Lester Benny Brown (1902-1942) and Una Valerie (Coker) Cerba (1903-1997).

This is a bit of an interesting question, as I would agree that William Alvin Pitt was his father and his profile is currently connected to Brad's. Due to privacy reasons, the profile only shows as "private father". However, most sites reporting his mother state that her name was Jane Etta Hillhouse. There are a good number that do report Betty Jeanne Brown as well, so there appears to be some confusion there that will require a bit of research. I'll have to look into it further. If it turns out to be Brown instead of Hillhouse, more than WikiTree should be informed and good documentation will be required as the confusion will remain until a large number of the sites out there make corrections. For the paternal grandfather, you can go here ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pitt-678 ) to see Alvin Monroe Pitt, where the paternal line runs through. For the current maternal grandfather, you can go here ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hillhouse-99 ) to see Hal Knox Hillhouse, where the maternal line runs through. I'll take a look at the research and see if we can figure out which mother is the correct one.

Ah - I see. Betty Brown is Brad Pitt's paternal grandmother. Mystery solved. So the parents you mention are connected properly. I am looking at that reference to his father's death and it also appears his mother is deceased too, so I'll see what I can do about getting those profiles opened. Thanks!!

I can definitely see that Jane Etta Hillhouse is Brad Pitt's mother, and therefore his family tree reflects his maternal grandparents Hal Knox Hillhouse (1911-1976) and Clara Maurine (Bell) Hillhouse (1910-2003). I was referring to his paternal grandparents Alvin Monroe Pitt (1913-1959) and Betty Jeanne Brown as the parents of William Alvin Pitt (1941-abt.2008) (thank you for opening William's profile). I think Betty Jeanne Brown is now the private profile. If it's preferred that Betty's profile remains private, perhaps she can just be connected to her parents Lester Benny Brown (1902-1942) and Una Valerie (Coker) Cerba (1903-1997)? Thank you!

I see Betty's profile is private, but unfortunately, I don't have any visibility into it. Let me dig into it a bit deeper and maybe we can get that resolved. It is odd that the profile is connected to Alvin Monroe, but not to William Alvin nor to her parents. Thanks for putting me on this mystery - I'm sure we can get at least those connections set up, and hopefully open the profile as well, but one step at a time...

I've put in a request for her data to be updated. Interestingly enough, it's in Orange privacy status, which means it can be seen, but very little data can be viewed other than the profile itself. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brown-43261 - Hopefully the note gets to Patti and she can update the information. Thanks!
