Birth and Parents

Anne Peyton was the daughter of John Peyton, Knt, of Doddington, Cambridgeshire, and his wife Alice Peyton. ^{[1] [2]}

Chilton refers to Anne as Marianne or Marianna.^[3]

She was born c. 1600 at Worcestershire, England.^[4] \

1635 Marriage to George Brent

After 1635 she married George Brent of Defford, worcestershire, 6th son of Richard Brent and his wife Elizabeth Reade.^[5][3]

Research Notes

Death Date

The will of Anne's brother-in-law William Brent (dated 16 August 1687, proved 22 December 1705) refers to William's "Sister Jane Brent the Widow and Relict of my late Brother George Brent".^[6][7][8] This suggests either that Anne Peyton was also known as Jane, or, perhaps more likely, that George had a second marriage, to someone called Jane. If the latter is the case, Anne died in her husband's lifetime, ie before 1671, rather than the 1674 date given in the death date field. Douglas Richardson gives no death date for her.

Magna Carta ancestry

Anne's parents were both Peytons, and were in fact 2nd cousins once removed, by descent from Robert Peyton and Elizabeth Clere, who both had Magna Carta lines
