P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles that you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Alexandra, you posted then following message to the COGH Stamouer-Progenitor Project that manages one of your ancestral profiles: "My name is Alexandra Odendaal. I have been studying and following the Odendaal line for many years now and am a member of FamilySearch. Wilhelm Odendaal is my 7th Great-Grandfather on my father's side. I have information on members up until my 11th Great-Grandfather, and unnamed "Odendall", the father of Henrich Odendall, my 10th Great-Grandfather. I would love to be involved in this project and I'm so passionate about correcting and adding to profiles." You requested to be on the trusted list of this non-person profile (an exception to the rule that profiles must represent real, individual human beings), but that is not possible. Project profiles such as these are only there to serve for communication purposes. However, if you scroll down the homepage of this project profile, you'll see the following: How to Join ... Though may I add that it might be better if you perhaps would like to join the South African Roots Project first? Besides links to sources, there are help pages that might also be useful. There are also instructions on how to add and edit information on communal [and also project protected] profiles. You might have seen that many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eighteenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources, so only filling the missing data is will be necessary.

A few handy links:

  1. Getting Started
  2. Adding to WikiTree.
  3. What are duplicates? Why should and how can they be avoided?
  4. G2G Help - for any questions you may have ....

Edit: I happen to be on the trusted list of this profile (Odendaal-12) with some other members; I added your email address too.
