Thank you for all your profile-creating in the April 2023 Connect-a-Thon, Fionnuala. The Irish Seanchaithe appreciate all your efforts!
We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.
If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY IMPORTANT to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Sorry I have been very quiet lately on the Ireland Project, but I would like to remain part of it and contribute when I can. It's something I can only get to when I have time, and that varies!
Thanks,

My kids have Power ancestors in Dungarvan and Abbeyside (Waterford). Don't know how far that is from Sporthouse. Of course, Power is the most popular surname in Waterford, right?
Cheers!
Yes, there are lots and lots of Powers in Waterford! The name evolved from the Irish version of a French surname: "de Paor" is the Irish version, in French it original was "le povre" or the "poor one"!!! In the middle ages, the French Normans invaded Ireland and many settled in Waterford. So it is almost impossible to find connections with Power families as there are so many, and the first names are also often repeated too!! Dungarvan/Abbeyside is not far if you are talking about American distances, but in Ireland it would be considered quite far for a family connection in the mid 19th century. So, I think it might be difficult to find any connection between your kids and my Powers. I've been quite overwhelmed with responses to my "Member of the Week" appearance - but I will have a look at this when I've time and let you know if I find anything interesting! Thanks again for your message.
Greet to "meet" you in the Member of the Week interview this week. I really liked some of your answers.
Chris

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
