Bert Newton AM MBE was featured in a media genealogy show.

Albert Watson 'Bert' NEWTON was born on 23 July 1938 in Fitzroy, Victoria, Australia to Joseph Newton and Gladys McNulty. The youngest son of six children.

Patti McGRATH and Bert NEWTON were married on 9 November 1974 at St. Dominic’s Church, Camberwell, Victoria, Australia. They have 2 children.

He passed away on 30 October 2021 at O’Neill House in Prahran, Victoria, Australia.

Bert was well respected and considered a national icon in Melbourne. On a rainy day in Melbourne, 12 November 2021, a state funeral for Bert was held at St Patrick's Cathedral[1]. The night before, the lights at many theatres in Melbourne were dimmed out of respect in a salute to "our dear old Bert". The service was televised on the 7 Network. Due to Covid-19 restrictions only 500 people were invited to attend. Not only members of the Government and show business and radio personalities attended but also many from behind the scenes such as cameramen and makeup artists who had worked with Bert were included.

Bert loved people and people loved Bert.
