Elmer was born on 25 December 1870 in West Lampeter, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Morton.^[1]

In 1897 Elmer (age about 26) was employed. Machinist.^[2]

When Elmer was about 26 he married Virginia Alverta Keyton in 1897 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. The couple had 2 children: Lloyd Raymond Morton and Miriam Alberta Morton.^[3]
