Death of Mr. Henry Morton
We regret to have to record the death of Mr. Henry Morton, who died at his late residence, Eugowra, on the 11th instant, at the age of 66 years. Deceased had been a healthy man all his life until about three years ago, when he underwent an operation for an internal complaint, and since then he gradually failed until the end eventually came, as above stated.
The late Mr Morton was a native of the Bathurst district, but came to Molong district 40 years ago, where he successfully combined farming and grazing pursuits. Some 15 years ago he removed from near Molong to Eugowra district and carried on the same occupation until twelve months ago, when he retired from active life, and came to reside in the township of Eugowra. Deceased was a quiet unassuming man and highly respected by all who had made his acquaintance. In his business relations he was honest and straightforward. By carefulness, industry, and foresight the deceased gentleman became fairly well-to-do.
Besides an aged widow, the deceased leaves a grown up family of nine sons and three daughters. The sons are Messrs. Herbert, Arthur, Wesley (Molong district), Harry, Thomas (N.Z), Lester, Leith, Oswell and Claude (Eugowra) ; daughters — Mrs. Gosper (Meranburn), Mrs. Green and Mrs Colletts (Eugowra); Mrs. W. J. Windred (Molong) is a niece of the deceased.
The funeral was large and representative, the mortal remains of the deceased gentleman being laid to rest in The Church of England cemetery, Eugowra. The Rev. Mr. Dunstan conducted the funeral service in an impressive manner.
We extend our sincere sympathy to the bereaved widow and family, who are deservedly popular with all sections of the community. [3]
