Biography

Dreux de Moncy was among those who joined the First Crusade in 1096. [1]

Research Notes

The parents of Dreux are unknown.

This profile was originally conflated with the family of Dreux de Mello.

The place referred to in sources as "Monceio" (or other variants) was Mouchy le Châtel, canton de Noailles, in the present-day French département of Oise. [2]

In secondary sources, the name is translated from the Latin either as Moncy or Mouchy. Moncy appears to be a more accurate rendering of the original. [3]

He may be the grandfather of Ermengarde, instead of the father. Some unsourced trees show him with a son, Dreux who married Adelaide and was the father of Ermengarde. Given his DOB and Ermengard's DOB, this makes sense. Often when father and son have the same name, there are mistakes like this.

Mello-25 and Monceaux-16 do not represent the same person because: Birth and death dates does not match, and other vital info don't match

Monseaux-1 and Monceaux-16 appear to represent the same person because: first need to merge fathers and determine correct mother.

De Mouchy-3 and Monceaux-16 appear to represent the same person because: Need to merge fathers and resolve mothers, then merge these Dreuxs. Thanks.
