Keith Miller is Notable.

Keith Miller was a successful Australian test cricketer between 1946 and 1956, who also played for Victoria and New South Wales in Domestic Competitions. At the Test level he played 55 times for Australia, scoring 2958 runs at 36.97, with seven centuries, three of them against England and four against West Indies. He also ended up with 170 Test wickets, at the excellent average of 22.97. He scored 14,183 First-class runs at 48.90, taking 497 wickets at 22.30.

Miller was a natural sportsman, who also played 50 matches in the Victorian Football League (VFL) for St Kilda. He played mainly at full back and centre half back, and was a member of the Victorian state football team in 1946.

Keith Miller was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in 1956 for his services to cricket.

Keith "Nugget" Miller was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1986.

Keith Miller was also one of the ten inaugural inductees into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 1996.

Keith Miller was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM); on the 26th of January 2005 for service to sport, Particularly cricket as a player, journalist and commentator.

Later Keith Miller was also inducted in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009.

Keith was the youngest of four children and was named after the aviators Keith and Ross Smith

Service in World War Two

He served in the Australian Army in World War II. His service number was V74626. [2] He enlisted on 20 Aug 1940, at which time he was living at Elsternwick. His next of kin was L. Miller. He was discharged on 8 Nov 1941.

He then served in the Royal Australian Air Force. His service number was 410608. [3] He enlisted 30 Jan 1942. His next of kin was Leslie Miller. He flew fighter bomber missions over Europe.

Death

11 October 2004, at a nursing home on the Mornington Peninsula, after being in persistent poor health.

He was given a state funeral by the Government of Victoria. [4]
