Prisca was born in 1730 in what is now called Somers, Connecticut.[1] The town of Somers, located in Tolland County, is in north-central Connecticut and borders Massachusetts. Once a part of Massachusetts, men from Enfield moved to the area permanently and formalized the settlement in 1713. In 1734, the town was incorporated, and in 1749 Somers became a part of Connecticut.[2] Prisca may have been named after her immigrant paternal GG Grandmother, Margaret Prisse, or more likely her maternal grandmother, Prisca Chatwell...or both. She was baptized on 17 January 1731.[3] She married James Thwing in Somers in 1753.[4] She was the mother of all his children. She passed away 16 November 1780 in Wilbraham, Massachusetts.
Disputed child: Samuel Thwing. note: No SAMUEL THWING listed in Walter Eliot Thwing genealogy
The above information (that the Walter Elliot Thwing genealogy did not list a Samuel as child of James and Prisca) is incorrect. Samuel (#43 in the Thwing book) is the 5th child of James Thwing (# 24 in the Thwing book) and his wife, "Prisca Meecham" (as spelled in Walter's Thwing book, of which I have a copy). One potential problem with this Thwing line is there are three individuals in a row by the name of "James Thwing"[6]

An individuals name is often found spelled different ways in different documents. It is often the case that the person writing the mame wrote it as it sounded or the individualwhose name is being recorded was iliterate or has an accent , making their name sound different to the individual writing it down. Sometimes even the individual will themself, go by a different name at different times or in different circumstances or situations.
Prissy is not her nickname, it is her first name list in the Somers, CT Vital records. In admit the are close to 80 Meacham's listed in the VR that are her Ancestors and relatives, including her father's death.

This Maggie is a imposter! I put the information in and gave her the info from Meecham-582. She took the info and made it her's. I don't give a crap but other's, beware.
Meachum-50 and Meecham-19 do not represent the same person because: There are no REAL sources to prove these are the same person. Death dates are way off. More info needs to be accumulated.
