Throughout his life, Matthew was deeply rooted in Williamson County, evident from his residence in District 3 in 1850, 1870, and 1880.
Matthew made his living primarily as a farmer, relying on agriculture to support himself and his family. Additionally, he was a slave owner during a significant portion of his life. His commitment to farming remained unwavering, as he continued this occupation throughout the years, always residing in District 3.
Tragically, Matthew passed away on October 26, 1883, in Williamson County. He was laid to rest at the Campbell-Wilkins-Burns-Meacham Cemetery in Franklin, Williamson County, Arkansas, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with the history and landscape of Williamson County.
