Alice is assumed to be the name of the daughter of the Marshall family in South Carleton, North Muskham (or Muschamp), who married John Cranmer, probably about 1450. The pedigree of Marshall contained in the Visitation of Nottinghamshire does not seem to have a listing for her, unless she could be the Allice, daughter of Raffe Marshall, who married Andrew Garnon and would presumably have been widowed. There, however, is no evidence available to support this supposition.
Given the assumed dates of her sons' births, she was probably born about 1430.
The two sons were Thomas, the heir, born around 1450 - 1455, and John, a priest, the second-born.
Alice's death does not seem to have been recorded.
