Biography

Trips to visit our Ursuline Aunts in their convents was a regular event, ushered into a large, dark parlour, sitting on chairs, or couches arrayed around the wall ...waiting for when Aunt Bunny would finally come in and rescue us kids, taking us into the kitchen for the cookies, buns, or biscuits she'd made for us. Always a treat! Her obituary: Sister Mary Priscilla Maloney, OSU, 84, died Friday, May 26, 2006 at Andrus-on-Hudson in Yonkers, New York. Born in Constable, New York, she was the daughter of Maude and Henry Maloney. Sister Priscilla was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Malone, New York and North Country Community College where she received an LPN degree. She also held a permanent nursing certificate from the State of New York. Sister Priscilla entered the Ursuline Noviatiate in Beacon, NY in February 1941. She professed her first vows in February 1945 and her final vows in 1948. From Beacon, she moved to Waterville, Maine. Sister Priscilla served in various Ursuline communities, including Malone, NY, Beacon, NY and Washington, DC. In addition to her nursing talents, she was also known for her cooking talents, always having something special on the stove or in the oven. Sister Priscilla was a special person; one who touched deeply all those with whom she came in contact. She was an avid writer and loved being in contact with her many nieces and nephews. Sr. Priscilla was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters as well as her parents, Maude and Henry. She is survived by two sisters: Sr. Mary Thomas Maloney of Wilmington, DE and Florence Costa of Reno, NV and a brother, Henry of Atlanta, GA. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 30, at the Ursuline Province Center, 1338 North Ave., New Rochelle, NY from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 8:30 pm. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:30 pm.
