Jean Macnamara DBE is Notable.

Dame Jean spent most of her life fighting polio, particularly among children, and was responsible also for the introduction of myxomatosis to Australia in 1950 to control rabbit overpopulation.[1]

In recognition of her contribution to her work and research, a Canberra suburb was named in her honour.

In 2018, the federal division of Melbourne Ports was renamed Macnamara for similar reasons. [5]
