I have just discovered WikiTree after searching on a maternal ancestor's name, and this has brought back my fascination with family history. In the 1990s I wrote my late father's history for an Honours Thesis - not easy in my Internet 'before' days, especially since his origins were Eastern European and he had passed away a few years before. We weren't close in life, but I found it an incredibly fascinating (and cathartic) exercise to learn about this man in his own right. Anyway, I'm so glad to have found WikiTree and look forward to expanding my family history knowledge, and perhaps filling in some blanks.
