I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I am so blessed. I am a Canadian, a retired teacher, a book lover, a dog lover and an ardent amateur genealogist. My favourite place in the world is Scotland. So you know me a little.
My dear hubby and best friend Jimmy has passed away. After 55 years I'm a me instead of a we. It's hard. Well, I'm pushing 80 mighty hard so it is time to get serious and clean up and complete some of my beloved profiles. Me first.
I was born in hospital in London, Ontario, Canada. My parents Bill and Georgina Kennedy lived in Ailsa Craig with my big brother Stewart. Craig was the home of my dad's family. When i was four my dad bought a sawmill in Wallaceburg, Kent County, Ontario. At first we lived in a small house (my brother and I shared a room) on the river and most days my dad took his canoe across the river to the sawmill. I thought that was cool! Later we moved to a bigger new house near where the hospital is now. We had interesting pets like squirrels and raccoons that my dad found in the bush while hunting or cutting trees. We always had at least one dog and the occasional cat. Oh, and there was our blue budgie that my mother taught to talk and call our dog Skipper. I remember what would be considered today a very independent childhood. (Packed lunch. Be home when the street lights come on kind of life.) I attended one of the first Kindergarten in a church basement and went all through elementary school in Wallaceburg. First crush. First kiss.
For the first three years of High School I lived in Orangeville, Dufferin County, Ontario. I remember sports, cheerleading, friends, dances, average grades, First boyfriend. First love. First heartbreak.
In 1959, going into grade 12, We moved to Hanover, Grey County, Ontario. The next five years seemed to go by so fast. I met Jim Binkley. I learned to roller-skate - very well! We danced, hiked, worked at Sauble Beach, did as little school work as possible and fell in love. He tried to teach me to drive. It didn't take. I got my first job, attended Teachers' Collage and planned a wedding. Jim was "a student in accounts" for a local CA firm and I had my first teaching job lined up for Hanover in September 1964. On Aug the 15th I married my best friend and life-long love.
In case this all sounds too airy, fairy to be true, Just let me say: Don't stay together for the kids. I believe it is better to come from a broken home than live in one. I loved both my parents very much. I know they loved me. I even think, in some strange, sick way, they even loved each other, But they had a hugely dysfunctional, painful, even dangerous relationship. They should have separated years before they did.
If you have any interest in Jim's and my adventures from 1964 - 2019 check out his biography Binkley-1033. I live in a townhouse condo in Brantford, Brant County, Ontario now. Just me and my Cavalier Bobby. I see the boys and their families as often as possible. My mobility is poor so now I can concentrate on my Genealogy profiles - my Legacy.

My mother's maiden name is Morden and I have quite a few profiles over on my Ancestry.com page https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/49518771/family?cfpid=20222522087&selnode=1 - They may not all be correct, I work a lot over there because I can delete profiles and start over.
Thanks again, Al
Thanks for adding sources and extending the tree. So much of what I started with was from a book I helped with in the 1960s.
Cheers!
David
Welcome to WikiTree. I'm the Ontario Project coordinator. We've been compiling a list of Notable Ontarians and included in that group are MPs. I've added a photo and category to F.E. Lennard's profile and would like to add the Notable Ontarian template if that's okay with you. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles.
It looks like Ontario (leader is Mags Gaulden) a subproject of Canadian History led by Mags Gaulden and Erin Breen or Scottish Clans led by Maria Maxwell and Doug Straiton. is managed by Allan Stuart would be a good fit with the tag you entered.
After you select projects add a tag to your profile to receive project activity updates .
Questions? Just ask. I'm happy to help! :-
