Biography

Leroy Waldo Jones was born 20 August 1902 in the Wood River Community east of Ponoka, Alberta. He was the son of William Jones and Elsie Glass.[1] Leroy grew up on the family farm where he is listed in the census records for 1906,[2] 1911[3] and 1916.[4]

In 1919, his parents rented out their farm and relocated to Hugo, California due to his mother's health.[5] Leroy returned to Alberta with his father and 2 brothers, and in 1922, he was working for a neighbour, H. Pritchard.[1] Leroy and his brother Richard are listed on the farm in the 1926 Census.[6]

In April 1930, Leroy married Annie Beranek in Ponoka[7][8] and they settled in the Wood River area where they raised 2 children and farmed for many years. [1] Leroy passed away in 1993 and is buried in the Forest Home Cemetery in Ponoka.[9]
