Harold died on April 27, 1967 in Trenton, Hastings, Ontario, Canada, aged 46. He was buried in Valleyview Cemetery, Camrose, Lloydminster Census Division, Alberta.^{[1] [2]}

Flight Sergeant Jones was one of six airmen who perished in the crash of their Lockheed CC-130E Hercules (#10309) aircraft; the Hercules, on a night training flight, crashed soon after take-off from RCAF Trenton station.
