Biography

William was born about1809 in Wales.^[1] During his lifetime, he was not only a farmer, but a shoemaker as well.

William and his family arrived from Wales some time between Mar 1849, when his child Shadrach was born in Wales, and the 1850 Census.

After moving the United States, the family first lived in Remsen, Oneida, New York, a community with a lot of other Welsh families. ^[2]

Between their child William's birth about Dec 1853 and their child Abigail's birth 23 Jul 1855 in Wisconsin, the family moved to Rose, Waushara, Wisconsin, another community with Welsh families. They are buried in a Welsh cemetery. It's possible there were relatives in one or both of these communities. ^[3]

In the 1870 census, William (age 54), Farmer, was in Rose, Waushara, Wisconsin.^[4]

In the 1875 census, William was the head of household in Rose, Waushara, Wisconsin, United States.^[5]

In the 1880 census, William (age 71), Farmer and shoemaker, was the married head of household in Rose, Waushara, Wisconsin, United States.^[6]

William passed away on 31 Jan 1881 in Rose, Waushara, Wisconsin.^{[7] [8]}
