Eva Johannes was born on 8 February 1826 in Mittelstreu. She was born illegitimately to a single woman named Magdalena Johannes. Her father is unknown.
According to Mittelstreu records, her godmother was Eva Streit, daughter of Kaspar Streit and Maria Anna Schreiner of Mellrichstadt (note: her maternal grandmother was Magdalena Schreiner)[1].
She immigrated to Buffalo, NY in 1847 with her mother and soon-to-be husband. She married Matthias Karg on 16 Sep 1847 at St. Louis RC Church in Buffalo[2]. They had the following children:
She passed away on 16 October 1874 in Buffalo, New York. She was buried at the United German and French Cemetery in Cheektowaga[3].
