Hertford, Dec. 20. Yesterday morning, about one o'clock, a most dreadful fire broke out in a large slack of bark, situated on the side of the Cattle-hill, near Powell's wharf in this city. It was occasioned by the carelessness of some people employed in shaving the bark, who having made a fire the day before in a place adjoining to it, neglected to put it out. The damage sustained by Mr Warren Jane, merchant, in Cheopstow, on this melancholy occasion, upon a moderate computation, amounts to upwards of 6oo£.
