James Jamieson was born in Lerwick, Shetland on 24 July 1869. He was employed as a Seaman with the Merchant Navy. His body was found in the sea at Seafield Beach, Leith at 3.30pm on 21 February 1929 and was initially deemed as suicide (Felo-de-se). He was last seen alive 5 hours earlier. A revised death certificate was later issued with the cause of death amended to show simply 'Drowning'....the referral to suicide /Felo-de-se having been removed.
