Biography
George Hunt and Amy Monk had their Marriage Banns published on three Sundays: 10, 17 and 24 July 1842 in the Parish of Brize Norton.[1] They were married on 28 July according to the rites and ceremonies of the United Church of England and Ireland by John Penson. The witnesses were William Belinger and Maria Turner. Groom, Bride and both witnesses made their marks in the register.[2]
George Hunt was a labourer and lived in Brize Norton, Oxfordshire with his wife Amy when their daughter Jane was born in 1843. Jane was baptised in the Parish of Brize Norton on 9 July 1843.[3]
In the 1851 census, George and Amy lived with their three daughters Jane (7), Mary (2) and Sarah (1 month). George reported his age as 33 and Amy was 30. He was recorded as an agricultural labourer. All five were recorded as having been born in Brize Norton, Oxfordshire.[4]
