Lloyd was the fourth son and the tenth child of John Alfred Hooley (1868-1914) and Rachel Elizabeth (Lloyd) Hooley (1872-1943).

Lloyd had four brothers and six sisters.

Lloyd married Elsie May (Shepherd) Hooley (1908-1987) in 1938 at Randwick, in Sydney, NSW, Australia. ^[2]

Lloyd and Maisie had one daughter and one son.
