Biography

John Samuel James Hansford was born on 3 October 1835 in Portland, Dorset, England, son of Elizabeth (Flew) Hansford and John Samuel James Hansford.

He was christened on 22 November 1835 at Chesil, Dorset.[1]

He married Mary White Carter on 20 August 1854 in Portland.

John married Isabella Perry in 1859 in Victoria, Australia.[2]

In April 1870, he was charged with lunacy and admitted to Yarra Bend Asylum.[3]

John died on 9 June 1870 in Victoria, aged 33 years.[4] His remains were buried at Footscray General Cemetery in Footscray, Victoria.
