William Hankey was born in Appleton, Cheshire, England.
William Hankey was born in 1878 [1] in Wilderspool, Appleton, Cheshire, England, the son of Edward Hankey and Ellen (Monks) Hankey.
He was baptised on 27 October 1878 in St Thomas, Stockton Heath, Cheshire.[2]
In 1881 William (age 2) was living at the home of his parents and sister at the home of his grandmother, Sarah Monks in Chester Row, Appleton, Cheshire. William's father was a domestic coachman. [3]
In the 1901 census William (age 22) was employed as a domestic groom, boarding in Chelford, Cheshire.[4]
When William was 28, he married Bertha Barnes on 4 September 1907 in Tarporley, Cheshire. [5]
In the 1911 census William (age 32) was employed as a domestic coachman, living in Llandrillo-yn-Rhôs, Conwy, Wales with his wife and daughter. [6]
