Biography
Sarah Jewel Hall was born on 3 Jan 1877 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, daughter of Edward Clark Hall and Anna Elizabeth Mix.
The 1880 Census [1]shows her at age 3 in the home of her parents in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.
The 1900 Census[2] shows her at age 23 in the home of her parents in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.
Sarah married William Andrew Hopple Jr. on 5 Sep 1900 in Hamilton County, Ohio.[3] Their children:
- Anna Hall (Hopple) Anderson (1901–1993)
- William Andrew Hopple III (1902–2004)
- Edward Hall Hopple (1916–1990)
The 1910 Census[4] shows her at age 33 with her husband and two children in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. This census states that she is the mother of 2 children with 2 still living.
The 1920 Census[5] shows her at age 42 with her husband and three children in Wyoming Village, Springfield Township, Hamilton County, Ohio.
The 1930 Census[6] shows her at age 53 with her husband and one son in Wyoming Village, Springfield Township, Hamilton County, Ohio.
The 1940 Census[7] shows her at age 63 with her husband and one son in Wyoming Village, Springfield Township, Hamilton County, Ohio.
The 1950 Census[8] shows her at age 72 with her husband in Wyoming, Hamilton County, Ohio.
Sarah died on 3 Dec 1968 in Monroe, Butler County, Ohio, and is buried at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.[9] Excerpted from her obituary: [10]
Private services are planned for Mrs. Sara Hall Hopple, 92, a Cincinnati native and resident until seven years ago, when she moved to Mount Pleasant Village at Monroe, Ohio. She died there Tuesday.
A daughter of Edward Clark Hall, founder of the Hall Safe Co., and widow of William A. Hopple Jr., former executive of the company, she was a long-time Wyoming resident. Mrs. Hopple was active in the Wyoming Presbyterian Church and was an honorary member of the Wyoming Woman's Club.
She leaves three children, William A. Hopple III, president of Stearns and Foster Co., and Mrs. Robert W. Anderson, both of Cincinnati, and Edward Hall Hopple of Middletown; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. [10]
