Rowland Hall was born around 1823 to Joseph & Mary Hall He married Ann Williamson on 27th July 1845 in Manchester Cathedral [1]
The 1881 UK Census shows the family living at 'Portlands', New Hey Road, Lindley, Huddersfield. Rowland was a Mill Owner and was heavily involved in the textile industry in the Huddersfield area.
Rowland Hall was killed in the Huddersfield Tram Car crash of 1883. He was on the open top deck and was thrown out as the tram veered out of control. Rowland suffered severe head injuries and die in hospital. 7 people were killed in the incident.
