Richard Hall was born probably by 1500 (older brother William was born by 1496 per their father's IPM) presumably in the area of Ore, Sussex where the family was seated since 1384 when John Hall, Senior married Amice "de Ore", heir of the manor of Ore and merged the arms of the two families. His parents were Robert Hall (1458 - ) and Anne (Dudley) Hall (>1462 - ~1510).
Richard appeared at the General "Brotheryeld" (meeting of the Brotherhood) at Romney on 21 April 1528 as the bailiff and representative from Hastings to the Cinque Ports Confederation. Richard was listed as "Esquire" and Richard Calverye was his deputy.[1] His father Robert appeared many times in the book as a deputy and bailiff to Yarmouth, always appearing as representative of Hastings.
On 24 November 1537, "William Halie of Ore, esq, son and heir of Robert Halle of Hastings, esq, deceased, and his son and heir apparent Godard Halle" granted land called "Estmershe" to William's brother Richard Hall.[2][3] William and his son Goddard were divesting themselves of their Sussex property prior to removing to Essex.
Shortly after, a grant from the abbot and convent of Robertsbridge to Richard is seen "6 Dec [1537] to Richard Halle, 4 pieces of land in Salehurst called Fletcher fields, Fullyngmylfeild, the Spitts and the Strake, 18 acres. Term: 20 years, rent 30s 8d[4]
Richard's daughter was Magdalen (Hall) Campe (1532 - 1593).
Richard died in Nazeing, Essex.[citation needed]
