George Griffiths is Notable.

George Griffiths came free to the Colony of Queensland (1859-1900)

George Washington Griffiths was born at Bristol, Gloucestershire, England in 1844, the son of Thomas Griffiths and Elizabeth Hawkins.^[1]

In 1851 George was living at Sale, Cheshire, with his family and a servant. His father was a Bookkeeper.^[2]

Traveled to Queensland, Australia with his family and brother-in-law William on the 2nd of October 1870.

Formed Griffiths Bros and Co in 1873 with his brother, John Alfred Griffiths in Toowoomba. Began to produce the famous Southern Cross windmill in 1902. After Isabella passed away in 1910, George retired in 1911 and married his second wife Margaret Ann Hunt.

George Washington Griffiths passed away at Woollahra, in 1924.^[4]
