James Gray was born in 1879 [1] in Warrington, Lancashire, England, the son of Thomas Gray and Eliza (Baskerville) Gray.[2][3]
In 1881 James (age about 2) was living in Warrington: Son.[4]
In 1901 James (age about 22) was living at 41 Whitefield Road, Stockton Heath, Cheshire with his (half-)sister Margaret. He was a civil engineer. There was a servant at their house: Alice Bailey. [3]
When James was about 29 he married Evelyn Hannah Grimshaw on 21 July 1908 in St. Mary's Chapel, Great Sankey, Lancashire.[5]
In 1911 James (age about 32) was living with his wife on Knutsford Road, Grappenhall and Latchford Without, Cheshire.[6]
In 1939 James (age about 60) was living with his wife on Hobb Lane, Moore, Cheshire.[2]
