Biography

François Godin was born on 18 Feb 1798 and baptized the same day (recorded in the St-Basile parish register), the son of Francois Godin and Madeline Martin.[1] His parents were residents of "la rivière St. Jean à Hotpok".

François married Julie Godin, daughter of Joseph Godin and Marie Martin, on 3 Apr 1826 in the parish of Central Kingsclear.[2] A dispensation was granted for 2 degrees and for 3 degrees of consanguinity (they were first cousins on one side and second cousins on the other). Their daughters Madeleine and Marie were mentioned in the marriage record. Their children were:

  1. Madeleine Godin (born 18 Apr 1821)
  2. Marie Godin (born 24 Dec 1822)
  3. Joseph Godin (born Jan 1828)
  4. Marie Godin (born 15 Mar 1831)
  5. Michael Godin (born about 1834)
