Greg, I am Richard Guillaume, also at ftdna, under R-ft31826-BY12176. I am in the Gilliam group at Ftdna, look for by12176. Your haplogroup Y DNA37 test is very shallow and only allows general inference. Your inferred group R-M269 is therefore very general. 80 percent European males are m269. You should get a BigY upgrade in my opinion.

Thank you for all of the bio improvements and sources which you added to the William Gilliam-44 family members. Your efforts have made it easy to follow the family lineage. All of your efforts are appreciated!

Greg,

Just a reminder that all Pre-1700 profiles require Reliable Sources. Projects can provide more details for sources that are reliable for the location/timeframe.

You might find US Southern Colonies reliable sources helpful.

An online tree is not a reliable source for a Pre-1700 profile. See Gilliam-3045 and Jones-143723.

Hi Greg,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
